China considering forcing phones to be registered under owner’s real names

According to the new regulation, mobile phones will have to be registered under users’ real names, and text messaging would be controlled more strictly due to the circulation of "illegal messages".

So this is good news, in the context that China is trying to sort out the problem of spam SMS (plus spam mail etc).  As for how they actually plan to implement this sort of control — well, the article on Techtree doesn’t elborate yet.
