Hi,

Was doing some research on my recent post and saw your post about '3'. I like it. If you get a chance come take a look at my post.

If you don't get a chance for a while it won't be on the front page so here is the title.

Mobile Phone companys are a little nuts. At least in the UK

I chose 3 as my network with a Nokia N70 because I wanted to be future-proof for a while. I was gutted when I too discovered that you can't actually get to the WWW with 3. When I was with O2 on my Nokia 6600 I could go anywhere. First you have to get an add-on for mobile websites (if you don't, you can't even get out of mobile.three.co.uk) but even then you can only get to 'approved sites' which are numbered only in the hundreds. Otherwise you get the crappy "Suggest a site" page. I tried Opera Mobile (which didn't come pre-installed for some reason...) and you get to the same "Suggest a site" page, only it's browser sniffing, and tells you to use the default browser. Ah, 3 have a deal with Nokia's default browser then...

Off to Opera Mini we go... Hmm it crashes every time. Ah well. At least my contract with 3 is only 12 months long...

Have you tried downloading Opera Mini as a browser on your phone

If you have got a Java-enabled phone it should work

then you can break out of the telco's "walled garden" - I have done it here in Oz
