Kids get text access to porn

Well here’s another example of network operators screwing about.  It’s just not good enough to say "er, well, you know, it’s the aggregator’s responsibility…"

So throw a whopping great fine on the aggregator and they’ll sort it out.  Otherwise everyone carries on as normal.

The news story? Well, the Mirror newspaper (www.mirror.co.uk) has highlighed a study by Which? Magazine showing how easy it is for kids to go to a porn site, use premium SMS to get an unlock code and then get access to view ‘explicit sex movies’.

Now, you see, you get adult shortcodes.  Those shortcodes, I was under the impression, are only accessible if you’ve unlocked your phone.  At least, that’s how it should work.  You should have to ‘lift’ the adult unlock on your phone before you can be texting adult shortcodes.

I’m going to ask a few people in the industry about this.

Anyway the Mirror article is: Here
