Zero-tolerance cell phone strategies in US high schools

Link: Blount Today.

“Our cell phone policy states if it rings, vibrates or is seen from the time they enter campus before school to end of school, we’re going to confiscate it for 10 school days.”
Casteel said the Maryville policy has been revised and now the parent has to come in, meet with one of assistant principals and sign a contract stating if the cell phone policy violation occurs again, it’s a two-day suspension, plus the phone is taken for 10 days.

Very much a zero tolerance policy to cell phones at Maryville High School! I don’t disagree — the children are meant to be learning, not texting ;-)
