Guess who?

Thinking about anonymous texts and calls, I tell you one thing that is quite annoying:

Someone phones you.

It’s a number you don’t recognise.

You answer and they say ‘Hi’.

You say, ‘Hi? Who’s this?’ and then, for some INANE reason, the person insits on responding:

‘Guess who?’

You say, ‘Er? I don’t know!’ (And you’re made, by their stupid sniggering, to feel some sort of a fool for saying so.)

Then they do their best to drag it out for a few more seconds.

ARRRGH!

My time is valuable. Your phone call, by its very nature, was an INTERUPTION.

GET ON WITH IT. ;-)

This is why if I’m calling someone, I always introduce myself first and the second thing I ask is ‘Is it convenient to talk?’ If it’s not, I’ll call ‘em back at a better time.

The frustration of this experience is magnified by 100 when you’re paying 12.5p per text to do the same thing.
