Mobile Industry Review Logo

200608252141_00008Eagle eyed Dan was taking a gander around his local ASDA when he spotted this sign hanging from the rafters.

It reads:  School Shop - ‘top marks! low prices’ - Nokia 1600 mobile phone, £24.

You know the market is totally saturated when ASDA are marketing phones as back to school items (see the asda-phone.co.uk site).  Honestly, they’ll soon be sticking them in Christmas Crackers and giving them away at Petrol Stations.

Still, onwards and upwards.  £24 is a good price for a mobile.  I have to watch myself when I’m anywhere near a pay as you go store as I buy them like sweeties.

Once, I walked into Argos and bought 4x Sony Ericsson Something300’s.  I can’t remember the exact model name.  W300?  T300?  Anyway, I bought one on each major network so I could properly test picture messaging from the consumer perspective.

So it’s in my bones.  Some people collect milk bottle tops.  Other people like stamps.  I like buying new mobiles*.  Saying this I’ve been remarkably good.  This year I have bought 5 handsets in 8 months. Pretty good going.

*I obviously don’t generally mention this on first dates.
