Ewan,

I know the African organizations that can make this happen... for real.

we do something similar for Dogs for the Disabled. Text PUPPY to 60300. Get back a wap link to a page containing this months picture of Jazz the gorgeous labrador and a para of text about what’s he up to. It costs you £3 psms and the charity gets a nice easy donation.

It’s currently offline while we switch from the monthly subscription version to a single one-off hit. Subscription does seem to be a stumbling block. But apart from that the charity love it and really “get it”.

cheer

Totally, this goes into other areas, perhaps shelters for people, get the big issue electronically? etc. instead of giving the "tramp" (i hate that term) the money they would have a sign that says text "help12345" to "000000" and this would send a payment through to the area charity which runs the house and supplies the food and help to get the "tramp" back up on their feet.

Means the money does not go on drugs or drink etc but instead goes straight back to where it should go and helps them. If each ID was unique you would know which "tramps" contribute more and help them buy advertising etc to get their code out, or distribute the money, or make sure there are no "free loaders" etc etc you get the idea.

I would be very interested in helping you take this idea further and into another area I have thought of. No doubt this would tie in with Alex (who you know) just give either of us a shout via email and we can have a natter. BTW, you got an msn id? ;)

I'd sign up for this in a heartbeat...

I'm very supprised that this wasn't taken up. It seems like a no brainer to me. Can you imagine removing the very annoying people who come up to you in the street and replacing them with this. Fantastic! I totally refuse to give all of my details to a stranger on the street anyway.

Plus, you would save a fortune in costs and start giving the people that needed it more of whats actually given.

Lack of vision and a lazy approach by the marketing people.
