Nokia wipes floor with Apple & other MP3 player manufacturers

Link: The Mobile v the iPod Revisited at MobHappy

Well, according to Nokia 2 out of 3 people already use this part of the phone’s facilities, so that doesn’t really wash either. In fact, doing the maths for you, more than 20 million more people will use Nokia MP3 players this year than buy iPods.

Thoroughly enjoyed Russell’s post on this subject. Wicked stats.

I await the Apple iPhone with mild interest.

Now that we’re seeing 4gb music phones enter the mainstream… standalone MP3 players are about to take a serious hit. As Russell points out, there will still be those who prefer taking “two bottles into the shower” (reference: Head & Shoulders shampoo advert, here in the UK), but most of us will go for a multi function device. Especially if it’s free or subsidised by our glorious mobile operators.

I wonder what the stats are on Nokia, Motorola and Sony Ericsson handsets sold recently with MP3 functionality?
