CHRISTMAS IS COMING: You can win free stuff and help out some charities too!

I have been having a thoroughly interesting time reading through the phone histories already submitted. If you haven’t already done so, please do post yours. It is a fascinating historical record to see what handsets people purchased and in what order.

Writing out mine, it really made me recognise that development in the handset arena has been, well, quite limited. Am I fair to say that it’s only been in the last two years that we’ve begun to see leaps and bounds - video calling, 3 and now 5 megapixel handsets, each with mp3 and music service built in?

I am walking around today with a Nokia 8850 which is a total ‘phone’. It does calling. It does texting. There’s a glance at calendaring and tasks, but there is no mistake - it is simply a phone I’m carrying.

Whilst it’s refreshingly simple I immediately miss the camera of the N90. And my calendar. And having all 800 contacts there on the device. Quite an interesting experience just having a phone again.

So please do take some time to post your phone history either as a comment at the above link or on your blog (and send me a link so I can point people to it). It’ll be really useful to read!
