THE Perak Mufti has come forward to identify the source of an SMS message that fuelled anxiety and tension in Malaysia. The widely-circulated text message alleged that national mariner Datuk Azhar Mansor would baptise a group of Muslim students at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Ipoh on 5 Nov. Earlier this month, a crowd gathered at the church to protest against the alleged baptism, only to discover that the event was really the first Holy Communion for 100 Indian children.

I’ve been following the twists and turns of this since it originated a few weeks ago.
