Using texting in education

Some institutions have used SMS to improve student-teacher relationships in what is often an impersonal environment, by texting students congratulatory or commiserative messages, regarding work. Also, as it is a relatively new mode of contact, using SMS adds variety and interest to learning, meaning that students are more likely to respond to and retain information.

Although this release is a bit of marketing for M:Science, I’m very interested to learn how the medium is being used in the educational sphere.

I particularly like the idea of enabling teachers or lecturers to send ‘good work’ or ‘well done’ text messages to students. More at M:Science.
