Buy a drink at your local Wetherspoons pub and ask for a free 30 minute wifi voucher. Neat. I’m sat in a Wetherspoons right now waiting for my next meeting — but I’m using my special ‘unlimited’ The Cloud account to access the internet, so I’m ok.

Good deal, I reckon.

This is exactly how it should be. I wonder how much revenue T-Mobile actually make from their Starbucks hotspots? Now if they offered me free wi-fi access with my T-Mobile data plan and a drink purchase, I know where my coffee loyalty would be. How many other customers and sales might Starbucks gain? How many more data customers might T-Mobile gain?

Now I’ve no idea about the revenue model used by T-Mobile and Starbucks, but I’d wager that there might be more money for both parties in doing a revenue share on sales where customers also take 30mins of free access?

Seems pretty obvious, or maybe I’m missing the point.
