Ilana Fox, UGC Princess, is joining The Sun

ilana_colour.jpgMy friend Ilana, user generated content (“UGC”) princess, is joining The Sun newspaper to become their Communities Editor, principally, I understand it, to look after their MySun area. This is interesting on a number of fronts. First off, she’s doing a huge amount of work integrating UGC into the operations of various Associated Newspaper titles (The Mail, This is London, London Lite and so on), second, The Sun recently launched it’s own UGC area, MySun — and third, (this is where I start getting excited), The Sun was the first to launch a unified 60300 shortcode (as documented here on SMS Text News) with MX Telecom.

Put it all together and it’s rather exciting. Congratulations Ilana!
