Sony Ericsson P990 business card scanning: Rubbish?

Martin Williams is chief tech officer of DCMI. Last week I was chatting to him about phones and he asked me if I scanned business cards. I explained that the E61 didn’t even have a camera and asked him if he used that function on the P990.

I remembered reading that it supported business card scanning.

‘It’s rubbish,’ he explained, ‘You have to take a picture of it with the camera…. never works.’

Oh dear.

Are there any P990 users who DO use the business card scanning application?

I would use this constantly. When I go to business events and industry events I may have an influx of business cards. I would love to be able to scan them with my phone and have the option of saving them to my phone book or to some other file. Maybe a predefined Excel file that would catagorize everything. This would be genious.
