One thing I should have said in the Three meeting

I should have brought up the subject of Yahoo Search.

It’s shit, isn’t it?

I mean, it’s absolutely horrendous.

I’m accustomed to one-click success with searching. I am pretty good at knowing the right keywords to type in for Google to correctly interpret the results. Yahoo’s results remind me of 1997 and having to trail through tens and tens of pages of computer generated trash courtesy of Alta Vista, in order to find anything.

Yahoo has a super portal set and massively wickedly product offering. The search? Oh dear.

  1. completely agree with you – I was so dissapointed when Opera signed an exclusive deal with Yahoo for the Mini browser, removing google and giving their customers no choice in the matter.

Yahoo must be throwing a lot of money around to get all these search deals (the search engines pay people who refer searches to them), which is at least is some kind of endorsement of the importance of mobile.

But when you are using Mini to browse the web, and yahoo returns results from mobile sites first, the kind of defeats the point of using Mini in the first place. And they have “safe search” turned on by default. No good if you are searching for porn….
