Youngsters taking photographs of women in public places on the sly using camera-fitted mobile handsets and circulating them among friends through the multi-media messaging system (MMS) is disturbing the conservative Qatari society no end.
Women, especially when they are visiting shopping complexes, are cautious but despite this there are youngsters who can click their pictures without them having any inkling.
I’m often too focused on the fact that picture messaging sometimes doesn’t actually work — together with the rather poor marketing of ‘MMS’ by the operators in the past.
This piece in the Qatar Peninsula gives a totally different perspective to introduction and evolution of the technology.
