I don’t know if it was a mistake. I’ll find out soon, I suppose. My new place is wired with Telewest — or Virgin Media — as, I believe, it’s now known.

I have ordered a self install box. It is due to arrive on Wednesday. I was momentarily taken with the quarduple play special offer that they highlighted on their site — offering me mobile service along with TV, landline and internet. I almost said yes. But then I can’t pay the stupid Virgin Media mobile data rates.

I am, however, enamoured with the fact they sent me a text to let me know that my order has been processed.

I’ll be dead impressed if it all works come Wednesday…

So you have signed up for the most expensive landline service in the UK. With its 6p connection for each chargeable call ,and minute billing from 1/5/2007.

Virgin Media (and formerly NTL) keep putting leaflets through my door at home, even though my neighbourhood isn’t cable-ready. I’ve phoned them a couple of times to see what the deal is, apart from denying they’d do such a stupid thing there is, apparently, no plans to finish off what was started and actually use the cable ducts and cabinets that they put in about four years ago.
