Brands can customise their own MVNO with Sonopia

Advertisers have been eyeing cellphone screens as the next spot for their messages, but so far they have had to negotiate for space with the network operators.
But now, any consumer brand, company, charitable group or hobby club that wants to get its message out on U.S. cellphones can sell custom mobile plans through a new company in California called Sonopia.

I’ve been watching Sonopia for a while. I like the concept. I just wonder if that, perhaps, they’re a little late.

I think it’s probably taken the mobile executives far too long to recognise the potential of the likes of Sonopia. When we’re now in a worldwide marketplace that is moving to saturation point, convincing me to swap mobile operator or mobile plans… well… it could be quite a challenge.

Still, I think it’s worth watching Sonopia to see how things move.
