Cops use Bluetooth to appeal for witnesses

Hmm..

On first thoughts I thought this was a really stupid idea – with all the news coverage, police presence and “publicity” about the incident I couldn’t see people being prompted to give evidence because of a bluetooth message.

But then I considered the youth presence in the area. People who know the guy[s] who did this are likely to be reluctant to get too involved with anything that looks like they may be considering giving evidence. But a discreet bluetooth message can get through to them, they can save it for later, and there’s less pressure on them.

Good thinking, Mersyside police! I like to hear about innovative ideas like this.
