Link: Did Jaiku just become a sacrifical lamb for the GPhone? | :Ben Metcalfe Blog
Did Google buy Jaiku for it’s engineering talent rather than for the product? I’m betting the engineering team is going to be siphoned off into the GPhone project.
Liked this perspective from Ben Metcalfe.
He finishes his post thus:
If I was Ev Williams and Biz Stone [of Twitter] I’d be popping the champaign today as that’s a major competitor out of the game. Meanwhile a smart cookie in the development scene could easily crack on with a son-of-Jaiku to take the place of what Jaiku could, and should, have become.
There’s always Mobiluck, you know…
I’m the Marketing Director for MobiLuck. Thanks for the mention … by the way our current website focuses only on our bluetooth MoSoSo product. Our new website will go live this week and explains our worldwide mobile social networking service that lets you share where you are with your friends, receive alerts when they are nearby and chat 24/7 for free.
I’d be very surprised if Jaiku changes that much at all.
I met Jyri recently at the FOWAs and *every single thing* comes back to the user case.
If the user case doesn’t fit, then he doesn’t do it. Jaiku has a future and the team behind Jaiku are firmly part of that future..
Interesting suggestions from Damien Mulley as to what they’re at:
