The creaking sound in the background is the nation’s ISP’s about to collapse with only a tiny fraction of folk using the BBC iPlayer.

This internet doesn’t scale. When a second’s viewing equals 3 minutes listening in terms of capacity, you can see why the iPod moment won’t be coming to TV any time soon. Time/placeshift with broadcast content, but VoD? Streaming? nope. Not widespread until we each have a GB-speed fibre box at the end of the street.
