honestly, lets not pretend that the mobile phone industry is all rosie...time spent educating consumers is time spent not selling to them, which means less commision...service/billing/handset fault issues are all a customer services problem and shouldnt have to be dealt with buy salesmen but technicians, nothing annoys me more than someone comming in to as you why thier phone isnt working...even though i normally know i would never tell them cos then they come back with more questions...its like feeding pigeons...

confessions...makes it sound like your doing something dodgy...its your job to sell, not give consumers lessons on how to use phones...

finally, on this rant..."The seven deadly sins of mobile retail sales" is an archived "report"...find it, read it, laugh at it, then right a comment insulting the author for being retarded...who the fuck does he think he is to critisise our proffesion...and our hair...i bet he has really bad grey bed hair...also he is the sort of dickhead who comes in asking how to turn his predictive text off..."sorry thats a customer service issue...NEXT PLEASE"

I agree with the others, great insights Ricky. If there was more time spent on educating consumers instead of keeping them "in the dark," carriers would be easily able to sell the big ticket items (and would be called out on service and billing issues more).

I liked your simple explanation of the wireless industry and I definitely think you had some inciteful information for us readers. I noticed though that you did not really touch on the billing issues that many consumers face with the rise of the wireless industry. I personal spend over $1,000 a year on wireless related bills and while I love my phone it is a pain. This service I just found is amazing though, if you go to www.myvalidas.com they will audit your wireless bill. I saved a decent amount of money too.

The best part for you is that the site offers cross carrier comparisons, so if you can save by switching carriers it will tell you. If you recomended this to your clients it may get you some sales...
