Excuse me if I don't leap up and cheer O2 for (kind of) joining the 20th century...

O2's "unlimited data" bolt on for £7.50/month is limited to 200MB a month and excludes using the phone as a modem, IM, voip, P2P, video and tv streaming. So no playing with Qik!
<a href="http://www.o2.co.uk/termsconditions/tariffsandboltons0153" rel="nofollow">O2 T+Cs</a>

Still I guess you can do *lots* of pure surfing before hitting 200MB!

Unlimited (ahem) data at £7.50 is now available on O2. Ewan, you are spot on - after my £40 data bill I was afraid to use anything connected, until the unlimited tarriff came alive. Now, I feel liberated, like i know T-Mob / 3 users have been for a long time now...

I remember reading something similar at the beginning of the Summer re: The Big Red, along the lines of:

"VF customers are spent £xmillion on mobile data in the first quarter of '07 which is why we've introduced the new VF internet...."

AARGH! They only spent £xmillion because they were being charged £2.35 per meg dammit!

In other news, it turns out that mile-for-mile, our streets are overwhelmingly monopolised by automobile drivers.

There is also the big difference surfing with a real browser on real web sites compared to the normal, crappy cell phone fare. Then, you have the novelty of downloading maps, weather info, music and YouTube videos.

A lot of that will get old after the first couple of months but the point is, there are a lot more worth while things to download on the iPhone compared to other cell phones.
