Maybe this post is not quite in the right place but I'll say it anyway...When will it be that we can get over the "Product X is now available on Handset Y over Network Z" era.

When can we have all products on all handsets on all networks?

Or am I just dreaming of a far away land...!?

How is this different from what we can download on our mobiles now? It sounds like a puff PR piece. Or maybe they really did come out with a new iteration of Google Maps since the last one 2 months or so ago.

Eh? Anyone can go to http://www.google.co.uk/gmm and get V2. My Voda branded N95 gets 2.0.7, My BB 8800 get 2.0.1.

I think there's even a link on the Vodafone live! page.

Sounds like a rather misleading press release. Google Maps 2.0 for mobile has been available via Google's website for a couple of months. In fact, it's installed on my non-3 Nokia E61i right now!
