“5,400 dollars for an SMS Text News monthly report!!”

I had a note in from a reader who was peering at the SMS Text News shop and wondering if I’d lost my mind or there was a big ‘in’ joke going on.

I assured him that there wasn’t anything strange going on and explained that a little while ago, I had a request from an analyst who, noting that the SMS Text News Annual was en route, wondered if we would consider sending him a monthly summary of the key points covered at SMS Text News.

I responded, recognising that the SMS Text News audience all have different ways of consuming the content we produce — but I didn’t necessarily see the need for a monthly report. However the chap pointed out that he simply doesn’t have time to read and evaluate the 10-12 posts we make each day. He regularly scans the news feed but wanted a summary in a digestible format and was willing to pay. Thus, this month we quietly launched the monthly subscription. It’s $5,400/year which covers 12 monthly issues. (That works out to about 187.50 pounds per month.) We send the report, in PDF format, on the last day of each calendar month (so there’s just time if you’d like January’s summary).

I didn’t post about the launch because I suspect that the market for this kind of service is extremely small. Nevertheless, if you’d like a 2,500-3,000 SMS Text News summary each month then please visit the shop to order.
