Mike is right, and for the tiny sensors they put in phones going much further than the n95's 5 megapixels is a terrible idea. The noise in the picture will be a big problem, especially in less than perfect lighting. I would prefer a lower resolution sensor which is better in low light situations due to the physically larger pixels recieving more light.

For a normal 6 x 4 print a 2 megapixels sensor would produce great quality, providing the lens, focus, flash etc are good quality also (which they aren't on most phones!).

Gaaa - megapixels do not a great camera make.

The rust of willy-waving around 10MP digicams has resulted in larger file sizes, but actually *decreased* image quality.

Give me better lenses, not bigger pixel counts.

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/mpmyth.htm has all the low-down on the Megapixel myth. Don't believe the hype.
