Thoughts On Nokia’s Internet Tablet Series

Nokia N810
Here’s an interesting sit-down that Thoughtfix of Tabletblog.com had at CES with Victor Brilon, Sr. Product Manager, Home Networking Solutions, Convergence Products, Nokia. Basically, Victor is in charge of the features of the Nokia Internet Tablet series related to Home Networking. Daniel, aka Thoughtfix, had a chance to sit down with some pointed questions about where the Tablet series was, is, and is headed.

My favorite quote from the whole interview is this, “Mistakes are OK to make as long as we learn from them.” I love hearing that from Nokians (it’s not the first time I’ve heard a Nokian say something similar). I love that Nokia as a company heralds mistakes as proof that you’re moving forwards. I can think of another consumer electronics company that frequently makes mistakes, but would rather sweep them under the rug.

I’ve also picked up the new Nokia N810 Internet Tablet recently, and will be using that to blog from for a few hours every day, as I was doing with the N800 Internet Tablet. There’s an application called Maemo Wordpy that’s absolutely fabulous for posting to WordPress blogs. It was updated today to support multiple accounts (vital for me) and uploading pics to Flickr (which is what we do here). I’ll have more thoughts on the Internet Tablet as a mobile tool here after I’ve had a good chance to play. I’m fascinated with the idea of a secondary internet-connected device and how it works alongside a phone for mobility solutions.

  1. Congrats on the new N810. When I had the N800 I loved it specifically for reading my RSS. Now, I’m curious what you think of the keypad. I wish these devices were just wide enough for real 2 handed typing (as apposed to 2 fingered typing).
