JCB Toughphone stamped upon and buried in snow

DSC00149

I took my JCB Toughphone to the top of the mountain at South Lake Tahoe here. (As far as I could get without having to hire SAS chaps to help out).

Whilst one or two bemused skiers and a few too-cool-for-school snowboarders watched on, I stepped out of my skis, stuck my poles in the ground and began my experiment.

I whipped out the Toughphone and dropped it unceremoniously on to the fresh powder. I then proceeded to stamp all over it with my Ski boots. I did some jumping too. Looked a bit stupid, I’ll grant you.

Bent down and picked it up. Still functioning.

I burred it in some snow:

Stamped on it more. I would have taken some videos of this — but, er, I was already looking weird enough.

I would have thrown it against trees … but… you know, there’s-bears-in-them-there-woods, so didn’t want to go hunting after it.

Eventually I dusted it down, (not a mark on it), wiped it on my fleece and called mum back in the UK.

Perfect quality. Phenomenal.

Comedy. I can just picture that, along with the puzzled Americans nearby.

Ahh the hardships of going skiing you go through in the name of mobile phone testing. ;)

Hey , I think you don't need that phone anymore! how about donating it to some one who is more needful.

I think you need to buy a new one. And don't ever bring a phone while you're skiing.
