I would love to see this kind of "linking up" and integration across apps as well. A lot can be done when we stop treating apps and services as sperate silos of information and actually use them the same way our minds do - threading together relevant portions to create networks of information and expereinces that is totally personal and ultimately "beyond connectivity."

This is similar to what I wrote in a recent blog post for the Tablet UI blog. Considering that we are bloggers/journalists, I'm sure that those "in the know" are already trying to work out how this works best for them given the current adaptation and fear rates of technology and its uses.

Re-reading this in the cold light of day it seems that I'm being quite negative about Nokia.

That's not the case - I'm miffed that this stuff isn't thought about (or maybe it is?) or just simply 'enabled' from the outset but for the record Jakko was one of the better Nokia employees I met in my time on their stand. Utterly engaging (no puns here) and completely open about what he/they were trying to achieve with N-Gage.

The thing that annoys me is that there doesn't seem to be much link-up across the different application managers throughout the handset.

Having an active Contacts which works in conjunction with my/your GPS/Calendar etc.. in a post-presence/jaiku educated world, just makes sense to me and if Nokia can turn around the Location Tagger in just under a year, then why not presence streaming too?
