UPDATE!

'Dave' got a letter today from 'un-named' insurance company. He spoke to the guy on the phone a few days before and HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE iPhone.

Letter says:

Ahem:

"Thankyou for your recently reported claim.
We can advice that we only cover computer equipment up to Â£1000 maximum sum insured and regrettable the Apple Eye Phone would not be covered."

Brilliant.

Unless the dog was the policy holder surely it doesn't matter! A thief or a vandal's actions are deliberate too…

Yes, that's an interesting point. Can the dog be accused of deliberately
rendering his/her teeth to the iPhone? Is a dog capable of executing
deliberate behaviour?

Tsk. 'Dave' should have asked his home contents insurer to provide some justification that his dog did the damage “deliberately”.
I think it's just as likely that the poor dog slipped or coughed or something equally non-predetermined that would have to be termed accidental.
