I actually got a text from him telling me he was 'in a very long Steve' this
evening, Jeb.
Took me a while to recognise that 'Steve' is the equivalent of 'queue' on
T9. Not dictionary related, but thought I'd share

Ewan, I think it's a phone glitch. I know the phone has the capabilities to remember my name but sometimes it knows what I'm spelling and other times I have to reinput my name. This is especially bad if your someone like WhatleyDude who doesn't even look at the screen or keypad when sending a message (he's just that experienced and fluid with T9).

Steve, sadly, yeah. I'm hitting 'Spell', spelling the word… then when I
come to write it again, the device has forgotten it. It's really
infuriating when you're spelling a long word — like 'smstextnews'. You end
up having to delete the gibberish and start again once you find it's not in
the dictionary.

Jeb, we're of the same mind. It is highly, highly, highly annoying. I
don't know how these handsets can get something so STUPIDLY basic, wrong.
I'm pretty sure it's not something I've done!

I am actually having a similar issue with the N95 I have been using. Sometimes it will remember words and sometimes it won't. It's gotten very annoying and to a point that I want to get another phone.

Err… sounds obvious, but you ARE hitting 'Spell' and putting in “Ewan” – aren't you? Maybe not? This isn't a known S60 or E90 bug.
