Why can't people just create a private Twitter account and follow everyone? We're living in interesting times with group messaging, I don't think the operators are going to innovate on this one, but I do think that folks like Jaiku and Twitter and Pownce will stat seeing people's wants and different usage models and create a solution that solves this scenario.
