The first SMS Text News Podcast – demo baby!

So, after a ton of demand — thank you everyone who has emailed and berated us, here is the first, draft version of the SMS Text News podcast featuring me and contributor James Whatley and some rather comical ‘sweeper’ jingles. Listen out for them in the middle too.

Here’s the streaming audio link, courtesy of Nokia’s Ovi:

Podcast comes in at 31mins precisely – no idea why it says 2:35!!!

    Is there an MP3 available?

  • http://www.mobileindustryreview.com smstextnews

    Yup… Somewhere. Will get it!

  • Mike42

    iTunes?

    1) Where’s the video? 8-)
    2) Audio quality is quite tinny, what were you using to record it?
    3) The flash player above doesn’t work on the N95 with Flash Lite 3 8-( It’s also a bit dodgy under Windows, it’s not easy to get to the volume control unless you work out the knack…

    Apart from that, more please!

  • John

and how are we supposed to listen to this on our phones, eh?

  • http://www.weeno.ie Ciaran Rooney

Eh links guys? You say it like a dozen time but no sign of them :(

Aside from that very cool I like it. The jingles are bit cheesetastic though.

    alright,
good pod cast really informative, sound quality was a bit crap though (student dj coming out) and getting an RSS and hook it into itunes. I think you would get loads of listeners!

  • http://www.mobileindustryreview.com smstextnews

It's all sorted. We have a feed now and it'll be in iTunes shortly!

Some interesting stuff. A written summary of the products & services discussed would be good as well.

  • http://www.mobileindustryreview.com smstextnews

Yeah we'll do that as we go for episode 2… good feedback!

  • Mike42

    Nice work.

re: James and the Amazing Technicolour Mobile Apps Suite, this is soooooooooooo far beyond normob that he might as well be from Mars. I'd hazard a guess that even one of those apps is a bridge too far for 95% of the population.

Of course people (well, some people. Er, some of James' friends. er…) want to do this sort of stuff. The H.U.G.E challenge for MNO's and vendors is how to do this like Apple would. Maybe this sort of thing will remain the domain of the Alpha-Geek.

is that how they call it these days… ;)

Absolutely! ;-) Watch for the next revision for today…

I liked the conversation between you two as it makes me feel like I am in the room having a laugh with you both but I would strongly suggest you use one of those services that allows you to tag sections of the conversation as I won't listen to a 30min podcast without knowing I can skip around and get what I need and move on.

Also a quick outline would be good too. I know its a 'draft' so they are just tips and lastly use a better player as you can't get a sense of where you are since there is no times e.g. you are at 2:30 of 31:15.. etc

    Cheers

Absolutely… we'll need to work on that!

Why not use SpinVox to transcribe it?

  • http://www.mobileindustryreview.com smstextnews

I'm not sure they'd be able to do a 30 minute transcription!
