Looking at Fido Uno

So Fido has come out with their new Fido Uno service, which essentially allows you to get rid of your landline and use your Fido phone.

Details below:

FIDO UNOTM is a new wireless service that lets you use your Fido as your home phone, and gives you all the benefits of a mobile phone when you’re not at home. All this with only one phone.

The service uses high-speed Internet service, a wireless Internet router optimized for voice usage, a monthly plan with a FIDO UNO option and a FIDO UNO compatible handset!

At home
You can make unlimited local calls through your wireless Internet connection (Wi-Fi). You won’t be using the minutes in your Fido monthly package.

Away from home
Your Fido switches seamlessly to the Fido network and you start using the minutes in your monthly package.

Interesting! Going to contact Fido for some more info…

  1. If i am correct in thinking the uk had something similar and it wasn't that successful, however i do not think local calls were free just cheaper. Now if they included any wifi access for free minutes that would be wicked! 😀
