Students – £50 off mobile broadband

Ricky and your Blykwatch mates – this one’s for you …

NatWest has announced its new student deals and they include a £50 voucher off 3’s Mobile Broadband. They also include £100 off an ASUS laptop.

Fear not though, they are still offering a student railcard.

The deal is obviously trying to attract the more tech-savvy students who consider these sorts of things a necessity for student life. For me the necessities were cheap cider and cubicles in the library where you could fall asleep while pretending to work. How times have changed.

When I was chatting to Ewan about this he said, “when I was a lad, all you got from the bank was a smile, 10 quid’s worth of book tokens and a young person’s railcard when you signed up as a student.” But then again, Ewan thinks that policemen are getting younger and he remembers when “all this was fields”.

If you are a student, you can find out more here.

  1. I think MacLeod's memory is failing him – I happen to know he's a few months younger than me and I was showered with freebies when I started Uni… so much so I opened as many accounts as possible. Of course I immediately ratcheted up a massive overdraft so I paid it all back pretty quickly…

  2. firstly its only for new customers and secondly are they targeting the right market? Students typically have access to high speed net access in their halls or university library's! So not to sure if this would appeal to me or my mates!

  3. Ricky, I apologise, I didn't mean to assume! I suppose this would work if you're in a student house without broadband, but by then you're likely to be in your second year and already have an account.

  4. I didn't mean it like that sorry! Yes a student house is a great idea but students are very data hungry iplayer and the like! I think it's great that this service is about but is only really for light users!
