MIR iPhone application is almost ready!

The MIR iPhone application is almost ready. Our developer, Pashik, has been working away.

It quite simply gives you an RSS news feed of our site in an easy to consume form. Nothing too shocking for our first app version.

The big challenge we’ve got though is designing a decent icon for it. Any ideas?

Pashik reckons that a red square with the letters “MIR” in white isn’t that stunning. He’s knocked up some others samples here:

I suppose we could probably use a small MOBILE INDUSTRY REVIEW … but it’ll be quite small on the device. Does anyone have any ideas?

  1. Mobile Review is a different website 😉

I think a nice red square with rounded corners, a slight gradient and an apple-esque reflection (see: every other iphone icon) and the letters MIR in bold will look quite fetching! The Facebook app gets away with doing this with a single lower-case F and a blue square.

Will we be able to watch the MIR show with this app?

  2. i second that. the same style as the Apple icons with the 1/2 gradient but the logo in red with white 'MIR' in the middle. Would stand out and keep with the branding.

Just wondering, any plans for a Android app with the same idea?

  3. Another vote for 'MIR' in the mast-head colours and font. Remember rounding and reflection are added by the iPhone itself so the icon just needs to be a flat image.
