UK Mobile VoIP numbers?

This question just in from a reader (oh alright, it’s my own question):

Can anyone recommend a company that can provide a few UK virtual mobile numbers with voice terminated over SIP and SMS over SMPP or some other API?

Preferably not numbers that are stupidly expensive to call and excluded from other MNO’s minutes buckets.

    I think this can only be done with via a hosted SIM card..

    Sipgate, perhaps? http://www.sipgate.co.uk. Sorry I am not 100% sure about the SMS, the voice though seems to be what was needed.

    This is exactly what we do at Truphone.

    If you would like a couple of +4479788 numbers give me a call and I will tell you how to set things up.

    It would be useful to understand what purpose you intend to use this for.
