Just because location (for example) wasn't mentioned, doesn't mean the examples dismiss it.

Yes, things can be even better - but in the meantime, we should be embracing things that as you correctly say 'can be highly effective' too.

Let us not argue about whether the example is THE OPTIMUM but instead seek out ANY good examples to discuss, even if they are not part of our own personal bias.

ok - observational research is kinda pointless.

the context is missing for example, because i'm 100 miles form the nearest reebok store. or i won't be near one for 2 weeks etc or im not shopping im on holiday. etc. etc. etc.

add location / activity to the mix and it becomes more valid.

the tech and delivery mechanisms are all in place yet - give it time.

the content / copy / creative is bad because its not any of those - its just an offer,
a digital coupon. Nothing wrong with that - they can be highly effective.

but it's hardly pushing the envelope, and as ewan says, by delivering it via
a two way medium you increase peoples expectations.

actually ewan is dissing the example himself, I'm just agreeing with him.

anyway I buy nike/new balance ;)

Hey Mac

Please could you write up/link us to an example that you believe is great content/copy/creative and has no lack of context?

Its interesting that you feel that Ewan's example would not be contextually relevant to 100k Reebok fans....

It is equally interesting that you feel that the example is poor content. According to who? You?

Tell ya what - try this.

Find some people who you know like Reebok shoes.

Then run the example past them and ask whether they would find that relevant to their tastes.

If they say 'no', then your negativity is justifiable.

If they say 'yes', then your negativity is not justified.

Try it.

I have.

Betcha don't.

your REEBOK example is a case of
a) poor advertising content/copy/creative
b) lack of context.

its always been about the conversations and stories
mobile throws in a requirement for context
