MUST try the ice cream (gelato) – there is an excellent place by the trevi foundation, which, although horribly crowded, is an amazing background for filming. Love Rome!

On point five, I reckon you should try asking them in Italian for a change!

Avoid most of the restaurants around the Colosseum. They can smell your tourist dollars from miles away and will scam them out of you. Locals will recommend Pizza Forum located at 34/38 Via San Giovanni in Laterano, http://guides.travelchannel.com/rome/dining/spe.... The pizza is as authentic as you will get in Rome. Thin, tasty and full of goodness.

A great relaxed restaurant for lunch. Enjoy.
