I'm a last minute booker and couldn't get a hotel for love or considerable amounts of money. Very little availability on the site for three of us, when I phoned asking for help I was greeted with sneering unconcern. Surely the job of the company that has been given the (lucrative?) contract of handling hotel bookings is to help handle the exceptions, not just the easy multiple corporates who book a year ahead? They could not have been less helpful! A real quote in response to a question from me was... "and what do you want me to do about it?" Absolutely useless. I had a whole week of thinking I would have to stay 45-60 mins outside town. Now sorted with an apartment thanks to the persistence of my office manager. What a useless service from the organisers…

I was at MWC last year, I met some hard working school teacers on mid-term I knew who were on a bit of a boozing tour in Barcelona whilst MWC was on. They flew in and got hotel rooms no problem (as walk-ins) for less than 125 Euro in a 4 star in the city centre!!!this year numbers are down by all accounts. If you do not have a room booked, it may be worthwhile trying to get something as a walk-in if you are feeling brave and feel like saving some Euro's. Tip for the risk-takers!
