The always-connected AndrewGrill caught news that there’s apparently been an Earthquake in Melbourne, Australia. 5.1 apparently.

A few other people came through my Twitter with similar news.

So I re-tweeted it to the Sky News online producer (or Twitter Correspondent), Ruth Barnett thus:

I wonder who was quicker at telling Sky News? Reuters, AP or Twitter?

Umm - given that it was 4.6 (much softer than 5.1 and less likely to leave anyone other than the parrots homeless) I think I will give news by gossip a miss for the big stories.
