Just had the same epiphany, after 21 years of Vodafone being *my* network of choice, the relationship's now over.

After 18 months with a Nokia N95 8GB it's time for an upgrade:-)

Now, in that time I've managed to get hold of many handsets on trial, and discovered that my loyalties now relate to handset rather than network. Hand on heart, I'm still a BlackBerry man, but I just can't (seriously) live with the Storm. The forthcoming Tour looks to be EXACTLY what I'm looking for.

No launch date yet, but let's get some idea by checking out what Voda are going to offer me as an *upgrade*.

N5800 or SE C902 for free (upgrade to an N95 8GB?!)

Samsung Tocco for Â£16.38?!

BB Pearl for Â£15.23?!

BB Bold for Â£160.13?!!!!

BB Storm for Â£162.43?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HTC Magic for Â£183.13?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

N97 for Â£217.63?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ive cut ALL my handset subsidised contracts 35+ / month to sim only deals (30 day rolling)
and im saving an absolute fortunte. when i want a new mobile, i burn the plastic and
keep mastercard happy. anyway selling the old mobiles pays for the new toys. im eyeing the HTC HERO comeon baby.

Experienced similar with @O2, they seemed to want me to slope off handset less to a Sim Only deal, and i've spent a disgusting amount with them over the years. Shame really.

Ewan, I did something similar recently. I reduced my minutes from unlimited down to 700min/month, added 200 texts/month for $5 and kept my unlimited data (fair use policy applies). I felt very strange not having unlimited minutes but have only gone over my minutes once. I used to pay over $150/month and now have it down under $90/month for everything.

I'm thinking about adding another sim on this account because my T-Mobile sim stopped working. Can't decide if I really need to spend the money for another sim or not.
