I had to do a post on this. Long have I had a problem with people who wear bluetooth in-ear or on-ear microphone headsets. I don’t mind it if you’re a plumber – an ambulance man, heck, even a policeman. But wearing a bluetooth headset for 8 hours a day — and taking one phone [...]
How secure are your mobile calls?
Since all the recent controversy about Spinvox and the recent News of the World allegations – it’s got me thinking about security on mobile phones and what we should and shouldn’t discuss via our handsets. As I’ve pointed out quite a few times, I’ve always been a fan of Spinvox and, as a user, thought [...]

Does your business accelerate wireless technology development in any of the following sectors? – Consumer/enterprise applications and services – Communication devices – Semiconductor and component technologies – Mobile platforms – Digital media and content – Healthcare technologies and services – CleanTech Yes? Good. I’ve got some cash for you. Well, more precisely, Qualcomm Ventures does. [...]
Would you buy a Palm Pre if you could?
I just got this mailer through from Sprint about the Palm Pre. I’m tempted. Obviously I can’t get it from Sprint whilst I’m in the UK. But for all the Brits reading, it’s coming to the o2 shortly. So how about it? Any takers?
[Insert another 'SpinVox bashing' post here]
If you’re still a SpinVox fan — still — say hi below, stand up and be counted. Otherwise stay silent and be counted as a former fan.
SpinGate: An accurate summary of why SpinVox is screwed?
This comment was posted by an anonymous person on a MIR post earlier (“SpinVox Management: Rubbish, rubbish and thrice rubbish“). Have a read, do you think it’s a good summary of what’s occurred? SpinGate. Like the original WaterGate, it appears that the cover-up may be worse than the original bad acts. In this case, there [...]
Alleged shocking insight into working in a SpinVox call centre
I was having a read of the comments on one of the original SpinVox Debacle posts over at PaidContent when I came across one authored by ‘ex spinvox 2′. I won’t reproduce it here in full but if it’s any way near being accurate, it’s simply shocking. Trouble is, since we’re hearing nothing from SpinVox [...]
Another day, another bollocks SpinVox experience
So it’s Thursday July 30th. Where’s the response to the mainstream media? How many patents have you really got? Pending ones are fine, but — you’re not, as The Register’s Andrew suggests, counting each one in each territory as an individual patent? Surely not? Where’s the response SpinVox? Is anybody home? HELLOOOOOOOO? Is there an [...]
Upgrading to an N97 on 3
Sophia in the Chiswick branch of 3 was very helpful. She can upgrade me for free to a Nokia N97 – but it’ll be the equivalent of a 21 month contract. What do you think? Should I wait and hope 3 introduces an Android handset worth getting?
SkypePhone S2 now £39.99
This is a very, very good deal for anyone wanting to talk to friends for free (either in the UK or abroad). I might pick one up!
SpinVox and me: For the avoidance of doubt
For the avoidance of doubt and given I’ve been going off-on-one about SpinVox for the past few days, I’d like to point a few things out: 1) I was a delighted beneficiary of a SpinVox courtesy account. I *think* I used to pay for it but I’m not entirely sure what happened, when. Other than [...]
SpinVox Management: Rubbish, rubbish and thrice rubbish
My phone has been burning white hot today with people calling to express their complete and utter astonishment at how the SpinVox debacle is taking shape over the past week. I’m less concerned with the various issues being debated around the media about privacy and so on. The thing that’s really winding me up is [...]
