Will we all be clamouring for Nokia X and C-Series devices shortly?

Engadget Mobile reports (via digitoday) that Nokia has filed for trademarks for both ‘Cseries’ and ‘Xseries’.

We’ve already got the N-Series — the multimedia computer style handsets such as the N95, N97 and so on — and of course, I’ve been a user of many of Nokia’s ‘business’ devices from the E-Series range (E61, E61i..)

What, then, will the C-Series devices do? And the X-Series?

And should they be written with a hyphen or a altogether?

I imagine that X-Series is now perfectly fine to use in the UK. 3 or ‘Three’, the UK mobile network, was a big user of that monicker for its data plan services.

I was — and, actually, to my knowledge, still am — an ‘X-Series Gold’ customer.

Indeed, xseries.three.com is still accessible and operational:

You can see how old it is though. The N73 is but-a-glint in the eye of mobile historians nowadays (unless you’re from Italy where they seem to still be in use daily).

Nokia’s use of the X-Series brand name could be useful in the UK. I only have positive associations in my mind. It was 3′s X-Series data plans that really kicked off the mobile data revolution in the United Kingdom.

Back on the 11th of January 2007, I posted a blog to demonstrate that my copious use of mobile data in December (a paltry 77mb!) wasn’t billed at all. I even took a picture with my ‘top-of-the-range’ Nokia N93 to demonstrate:

Exciting times.

So what, then, will Nokia be unleashing upon us? Fancy new AndroidSymbian smartphones? Some Maemo gorgeousness? Will we all be walking around with Nokia C-Series netbooks in a little while? ;-)

I think Nokia just ran out of E and N series numbers they don't like to go below the 60's for E and 70's for N and there all out I heard after 3 more phones.
