Hands-on with the Nokia N97 Mini and X6

Some say he can open doors just by looking at them — and that he never, ever sweats. All I know is that he’s called: Rafe Blandford.

Rafe, founder of All About Symbian, knows a thing or two about Symbian. He’s got so much knowledge and experience about the operating system, about Nokia and about the industry in general that it’s not unusual to see various high-ranking Nokia employees bending his ear as he walks around conferences.

I always find Rafe’s insight fascinating — the more so for the launch of the Nokia N97 Mini and the new X6 ‘comes with music’ device. Have a watch.

    Rafe is double clicking, single clicking, poor chap, Mr. Symbian, is confused by S60 5th Edition. What does that say about the OS?

    Looks like a nice phone – just got to wonder who came up with the idea of releasing the N97 and then a mini version a few months later.. Seems a bit odd really!!

    In Rafe's defense, being filmed live like that, unscripted, is enough hassle and stress on its own. Trying to then string together a coherent demo and not tap on the wrong things is darned difficult. Yes, S60 5th Edition is occasionally a little unclear, but it's not THAT difficult, for goodness sake.

    The Nokia N97 Mini is arguably Nokia's most powerful handset to date, and it combines a large touch-sensitive display with a QWERTY keyboard, 3.5G high-speed data, a 5 megapixel camera plus GPS and mapping support, but will this be enough to catch up and beat the dominance of the iPhone. Well I been seeing a lot of iPhone killer also known as (MID) Mobile Internet Devices lately, but none has really lived up to it expectations.
