Heh... they list their opt-in mechanism in their initial inquiry.

I'm guessing they've already spoken to a number of aggregators and been told that this isn't acceptable in the UK.

Phonepayplus only allow premium subscription opt-ins through an MO SMS (or Payforit).

The opt-in mechanism they mention is very popular in the US (and Oz?) - but it's also horribly open to abuse by unscrupulous content providers - since they're the only party in the chain who have visibility over the opt-in.

Either have your subscribers reply to your "password SMS" or ask them to text a (unique to the session) keyword into your shortcode, instead of entering their mobile #.
