This would be great except I don't get mobile reception in my own home with 3. I have to go outside for the phone to work. Of course my flatmate swans around with her iPhone in the flat no problem. I can't wait till my contract expires – the thought of a 24 month contract is frankly scary.

@Jakdaw I have had major issues with the address book on both versions of the Orange ROM. This is breaking a core competency of the Android platform. Also have trouble making calls regularly whilst data processes are occurring. There is also no ability for over the air updates which is something I dearly love about my G1. The Hero is a great device, I just think that HTC could have done a far better job with their software layer.

Yep, they're likely to get the one that finally works. Mine is now exhibiting classic Windows behavior and often needs the mobile data toggle switched to off in order to make outbound calls.

What's wrong with it Dominic? I'm still on the original Orange ROM (not the one from the HTC website) but was considering an upgrade to that, or one of the modded ones…

Do you know what the difference between the Orange ROM and the non-Orange HTC ROM is?
