Where do you buy your smartphones?

Another email from a reader today — this time it’s not a poem though. Graham emailed to ask what online shops the Mobile Industry Review audience uses to buy unlocked mobile devices. He’s after a new HTC handset (he’s not sure which).

My response, Graham, is a little predictable: I’ve never been let down by Amazon (but do make sure you’re buying *from* Amazon if you want the guaranteed delivery times Amazon’s famous for — as apposed to the Amazon shop sellers).

Where do you buy your phones from?

The two or three phones I've bought over the years I've got from http://expansys.com. Their prices seem reasonable. One issue you might have is getting a non-english phone via their continental web pages. E.g. an E71 I purchased from their Spanish site does not have the Spanish language pack installed. It pays to ask on the product pages if this could be an issue.

I buy all my phones from ebay.co.uk and I generally buy them brand new and sealed but if I want to save some money (unlocked Italian iPhone 3G for example) I would buy them used. It works out quite a bit cheaper than buying from Amazon or Expansys and I've never had a problem with any of them. However the disadvantage is the phones don't come with a warranty unless the seller includes proof of purchase.
