LadyGeek TV launches The App Show: Simply Brilliant!

On the back of the thoroughly well received App Economy Report, LadyGeek are launching something new!

LadyGeek TV! Yup, they’ve gone live with the first episode and, goodness me, it’s a brilliant show, absolutely brilliant. I knew Belinda and the team were cooking up something good so I was looking forward to seeing it. And I wasn’t disappointed.

The show is aimed at — well — women and aims to navigate through the teeming masses of phone apps to present the very best each week. They’re platform agnostic so expect to see a good range of apps featured. This week they look at Ovi Maps, SitOrSquat and (my favourite) Touchnote.

The presenters are utterly excellent, the production values phenomenal, I think it’s going to be a huge success.

  1. As happened on another site that linked to their video, it's set to private on youtube and can't be seen, even if you log in to your youtube account…

  2. It worked fine yesterday… seems to have changed.

I'm confused though… loving the content, pace and presentation, but is this sponsored by Nokia / Ovi or not? Their logo appears briefly at the end and if so shouldn't that be mentioned when reviewing a Nokia service like Ovi maps? I'm sure there's no intention to deceive but it good to be very clear about these things…

  3. Hi Ben

Thanks so much for your question. Its a great one. Nokia UK are very much our sponsors as you can see by the branding at the end and the product placement. What Lady Geek TV retains is full editorial control over which apps we feature- as you can see we feature apps on all platforms- iphone, android, ovi, blackberry and soon windows 7.

Our mission is to bring technology to women (and men) after our YouGov research with over 16,000 smart-phone users highlighted that women with smartphones are twice as likely as men to have never downloaded a single app.

I would love more feedback. Please contact me on belinda@ladygeektv.com

    Thank you
    Belinda

  4. Belinda,

Love it. More please! The sponsorship arrangement sounds entirely reasonable, perhaps the fact they are sponsors not editors would be a useful clarification when the logo is presented?

    B.
