BlackBerry 6.0 is looking very good

I made a note to post the BlackBerry 6.0 promo video that was released recently. The video shows off some of the rather cool new features that the 6.0 OS will support, including a funky new browser (well, seriously improved), integrated search across the device, along with numerous UI improvements (plus the likes of pinch/zoom).

BlackBerry have to walk a tight line with their releases because they really need to keep their installed base of (dare I say, boring) business users happy and retaining the attention of the iConsumers.

Based on what we’re seeing from this 6.0 preview video, I think they’re walking the line very well indeed.

Have a watch and see what you think:

  1. I don't know Ewan. Admittedly, I'm hugely, seriously and massively biased, but if BB 6 is looking very good, why isn't Symbian^3? Nobody's saying S^3 is the ultimate smartphone UI, but it's not bad, and I just can't see BB 6 being much better in any regard.

  2. I actually said I quite liked the refreshed UI (as seen in the N8) in this week's newsletter, Sebastian — I think it's looking rather spiffy.

  3. Only feature the web browser 10 seconds before the end? Huh? WebKit is this OS's biggest leap forward.

The other stuff looks like just teen-friendly packaging 🙂 Consumers hey? Who'd want them.
